South Network Multi-rotor Drone Skills Competition

Previously, the 2020 Multi-rotor drone competition of China Southern Power Grid Corporation was held in yunnan UHV Engineering (Kunming) National Engineering Laboratory. A total of 28 contestants from 7 teams from UHV Company, five provincial and regional power grid companies and Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau participated in the competition. Dji industry Application was invited to be the chief referee of the competition.

In recent years, China Southern Power Grid has focused on the development of intelligent inspection, equipped first-line teams with multi-rotor drone on a large scale, and led by Guangdong Power Grid Patrol Center to explore the automatic inspection scheme of transmission and distribution drone, and achieved excellent results. The uav competition in the whole South network is not only a big training, but also a concentrated demonstration of intelligent inspection application.

In terms of schedule design, both theory and practice are taken into account. There are four items respectively: theory test; Multi-rotor drone automatic patrol to find the line defects; Multi-rotor drone flying under complex operating conditions; Multi-rotor drone 8 word flight. In particular, as a key investigation project, drone automatic inspection reflects the development strategy and direction of intelligent inspection of South Network.
Throughout the competition, DJI Spirit 4 RTK and Spirit 4 have become the preferred models for many competitors due to their accurate positioning, flexible obstacle avoidance and maneuverability. They are a beautiful scene in the competition.

The stability and flexibility of the drone are very tested in the complex flight project. After the drone takes off from the take-off point, it enters the four defect simulation areas A, B, C and D successively, looks for and takes pictures to simulate the defect, then goes through the wire obstacle area and the high and low gate, returns to the landing point and submits the defect photos. Without exception, the Sprite 4 series uav became the first choice for all the contestants in this event.

After three days of intense competition, there were 4 team prizes and 10 individual prizes. Among them, the first prize winner was awarded the honorary title of "Technical Expert of China Southern Power Grid corporation", and the second and third prize winners were awarded the honorary title of "Youth Post Expert of China Southern Power Grid Corporation".

This multi-rotor drone skill competition shows the general drone application level of companies and units in all provinces of China Southern Power Grid. In particular, automatic flight inspection has become a common skill mastered by many pilots, marking that the digital intelligent inspection business of Southern Power Grid has stepped into a new stage.
