When it comes to logistics drones, the first thing that comes to mind in the industry is SF. At the opening of WAIC (World Artificial Intelligence Conference) yesterday, the new SF logistics UAV product Manta Ray fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing UAV aircraft appeared for the first time in China's public, attracting much attention.  

This "WAIC (World Artificial Intelligence Conference)" was unprecedented splendid, obtaining high attention of the national level and the global focus. With the theme of "the new era of artificial intelligence", the conference brought together the most influential scientists and enterprises in the field of artificial intelligence in the world, and presented more clearly how AI in the intelligent era can promote social change and enable industry.

During the conference, SF entered the AI Park UAV application exhibition area with a new logistics UAV, and carved a new strength mark. Manta Ray fixed-wing vertical takeoff and landing UAV, even more because of the exhibition of the real aircraft, showed the level of intelligence, specialization and automation in the scene, and led the audience to perceive the logistics capacity mode in different scenes ahead of time.

SF, as far back as March 27, was known to have obtained the country's first UAV aviation license to operate legally. The display of Manta Ray in shape with big differences between the well-known four-rotor vertical takeoff and landing UAV. Manta Ray’s fuselage lines is smooth with hard modeling, and full of scientific and technological sense. It is understood that the UAV from the overall aerodynamic layout, structural design, flight control systems were all developed by SF, and its external design inspiration was taken from the deep-sea Manta with flying wings, like a kite.

According to the data, Manta Ray has a wingspan of 3.5 meters, a fuselage of 2 meters, a height of 0.8 meters, a maximum load of 10 kilograms and a flight of 120 kilometers. It is a medium-to-long-range UAV. At the flight speed, Manta Ray can last up to 90 minutes and the maximum flight speed can reach 30 meters per second.

As a logistics UAV, its protective performance is naturally one of the most interesting parameters in performance data. Manta Ray can fly in complex environments such as 3000 meters above sea level, with IP45 class waterproof, dust-proof capability, and the lowest flight temperature can reach -10℃.

Let’s dissect its overall aerodynamic design in detail. The aerodynamic design based on bionic streamline greatly reduces the flight resistance of Manta Ray. At the same time, it can also be driven by two ducted fans. Ducted fans have greater thrust, safer and noise-reducing capabilities, and UAVs can still fly normally when a single culvert fails. In addition, the main operating rudder surface is also redundant design, which significantly improves the safety and reliability.

As for the structural design part, the whole machine adopts a variety of lightweight composite materials, and a large number of carbon fiber composites are used in the load-bearing skeleton part, which can meet the requirements of strength, stiffness and reliability during the normal operation of the aircraft. The whole machine structure adopts modular design, which can carry on quick dismounting, and guarantee the whole machine high-efficiency transportation and deployment.

Besides excellent performance and structural design, the flight control system, communication system and scheduling management system hidden behind the UAV are the most outstanding highlights of SF logistics UAV. SF logistics UAV is completely self-developed, alone with the Manta Ray model, SF covered more than 120 patents.

The communication system is used for the data connection between UAV and ground base station. The whole base station has the capability of unattended, remote control and automatic alarm. The maximum communication distance of a single base station is up to 30km, and it supports many-to-many access and roaming. The dispatching management system can monitor the flight mission and data of Manta Ray in real time, and ensure that the whole flight can be controlled in real time and operated safely.   

Up to now, Manta Ray has been heavily involved in the flight test under the real logistics scenario, which belongs to the terminal distribution stage of SF’s "Large-Scale Human Transport Aircraft +Large Regional UAV + Terminal miniature UAV". SF logistics UAV will form a systematic development model with multiple application types, multiple usage levels and multiple development directions, widen the logistics network, expand the capacity model, and make the customer’s future.
