The 2008 Global UAV Conference officially opened in Chengdu on September 10. More than 500 people in the UAV industry from 50 countries around the world participated. On the afternoon of 12 September, at the Third Symposium On Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, Sichuan online reporter interviewed Liu Yanguang, general manager of JingDong UAV Industry Center, and asked her to share the experience of Chinese enterprises in the UAV application environment and scene, as well as the operation of JingDong tertiary logistics network in Sichuan.

Reporter: Could you briefly introduce the current situation of JingDong UAV team?

Liu Yanguang: JingDong's drone team has been running hundreds of routes since December 2015, with a cumulative flight time of more than 400,000 minutes, a distance of more than 600,000 kilometers are achieved with zero accidents. Sichuan is one of the six provinces where JingDong's drone distribution is being carried out on a daily scale.

Reporter: At present, What isthe current status of JingDong's "three-level air intelligence logistics network" in Sichuan?

Liu Yanguang: JingDong's three-level air logistics network is a three-level UAV logistics network system of trunk-branch-end distribution. We are currently doing terminal applications in Sichuan, and the end is now in the Cliff Village of Daliangshan, using JingDong Y-3 three-axis multi-rotor UAV which does daily logistics and distribution, and also takes on the urgent task of medical supplies in the cliff village, so as to updat the manual elevator transportation to a large extent, and to improve efficiency while ensuring safety, so that the villagers of Cliff Village can feel the convenience of life brought by technology.

Reporter: In ensuring the safety of air logistics transportation, what technical support did JingDong do?

Liu Yanguang: In the entire JingDong’s intelligent logistics ecosystem, our operational scheduling and management platform can see all the orders, people, routes, and operating platforms in operation in real time across the country, such as operational height, our battery power, the wind and weather conditions we encounter can be visualized to ensure safety. At the same time, all of our UAVs are self-developed, which have a very good core of technical support to our products, and increase security through the product iteration.

Reporter: What’s the next step for JingDong UAV business in Sichuan's development layout? Is there a pilot plan for the branchless UAV?

Liu Yanguang: The next step will be to consider a test of the branchless drone in Sichuan, but there are no plans yet.
