According to Russian satellite news agency Sputniknews, the press service of Russia Post said that General Manager Igor Akimov and the chief executive of the Chukchi region of Russia, Alexander Kopin, reached an agreement during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on the development of drone delivery services in the region.
"The two sides signed the agreement on June 3, 2021, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and the total amount of investment in the project is over 340 million rubles (about $4.641 million)," the source said.
Russia Post plans to launch a pilot network of drone delivery services, including 48 routes, in the autonomous regions of Chukchi, Kamchatka, Yamal-Nenets and Khanty-Mansisk, the press service said.
Russia Post also plans to conduct the first test of the drone system before the end of the year.
