Royal Thai Air Force spokesman Air Vice Marshal Pongsak Semachai on Sunday urged people using camera drones to ensure their actions were appropriate and did not violate the law or the rights of others.
The warning came after police took action against an unnamed individual who had used such a drone to take bird’s-eye view photos of the Air Force airport and published them on social media in August.
Pongsak said the person had acted in violation of the Official Secrets Protection Act 1940 hence the Air Force had lodged a complaint at Don Muang Police Station. Police summoned the suspect on October 6 to hear the charge.
Pongsak said the Air Force hoped the use of camera drones, be they for use of the public or private sector or personal use, will be under the law, without violating the rights of others or revealing the civil service’s secrets, especially those that would compromise on aviation safety.
