On January 8th, JingDong officially opened the drone normal operation pilot. This is also the first normalized operation pilot of drone distribution in the southwest China.
Official of JingDong Guangan Sales Department said that at present, there are 22 staff at the site, which is responsible for the logistics and distribution of JingDong in the main urban area of Guangan and the Guangan District. The drone, as an auxiliary role of terminal transportation, will save a lot of travel time for the dispatchers.
The distribution route on the north platform of Siyuan Square can deliver packages waiting for distribution for most of deliverymen who pass by, thus saving the time they need to return to the station to pick up the goods.
It is reported that JingDong's main types of drones for the delivery are Y3 and V3, with load between 5-30 kg. In addition to the large volume of goods, most products such as fresh foods, electronic, clothing and other products can be distributed by drones.
Guangan has been one of the investment areas valued by JingDong Logistics.
The person in charge of the project said that in the follow-up, JingDong Logistics will also cooperate with colleges and universities in Guangan to set up research bases such as JingDong Flying Service Center to provide drone science education and training to train high-end talents for the industry.
