Wild camels ran on the screen behind us. Wild camel is a critically endangered species, is also our country's first class protected animals, the world only more than 1000 peaks, even rarer than the giant panda. They are especially rare because they live in inaccessible areas. A drone has accidentally captured more than 30 camels running in groups in the Ananba Wild Camel National Nature Reserve in Aksai County, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, the largest wild camel population in the area in recent years.

On the vast expanse of the Gobi, wild camels with five peaks run down a small slope, galloping all the way. Later, more and more wild camels joined the group. More than 30 wild camels run in a single file toward the depths of the Gobi.
At present, wild camels are only distributed in China and Mongolia in the world, and the global number is about 1100 peak to 1200 peak. The population number in China is about 600 peak to 700 peak, mainly distributed in the border of Xinjiang and Gansu in the Kumutage Desert and Xinjiang Taklimakan Desert near. Compared with domesticated camels, wild camels have distinct body characteristics.

Liu Jianquan, senior engineer of Ananba Wild Camel National Nature Reserve Administration in Gansu Province, said: "The back peak is the wild camel. Obviously, the humps are different, one sharp and one round, and the distance between the humps is different. The hair on the neck is different. In terms of body shape, wild camels are relatively strong, while domestic camels feel a little bloated. A more profound difference is that domestic camels have no fangs, but wild camels have fangs that can grow up to five centimeters long.

Wild camel populations are scarce and need more protection. At present, in northwest China, in the areas where they live, there have been established Dunhuang West Lake National Nature Reserve, Ananba National Nature Reserve of Gansu Province and Lop Nur National Nature Reserve of Xinjiang Province, forming a relatively complete reserve system, which keeps the population of wild camels stable.
