Cordillera use drones to gather sufficient data in road management
THE Department of Public Works and Highways in the Cordilleras is set to use drones to gather sufficient data needed in the management of the region's road system.
DPWH - Cordillera regional director Neri Bueno said the use of these drones will play a major part in the gathering of data needed for projects which needs to be funded. This would give the agency an accurate estimate on what the specific funds would be needed for a project.
"With the build-build-build program of our government, the acquisition of drones would greatly help us in data gathering using minimal personnel operations who can gather a wide range of data in minimal time," Bueno explained.
Bueno pointed out the region's earlier procurement of drones as suggested by their central office for the district offices while training is now done for would be operators who will be accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines or the National Aviation Authority of the Philippines responsible for implementing policies on civil aviation.
The drone acquisition of the DPWH is a project of the Japan International Cooperation Agency which have introduced a new technology in road management.
"The potential drone operators of our regional office who are undergoing training are our engineers wher technological knowledge in this field. Their technical expertise together with our experienced engineers will be vital in gathering the specific data for our projects," Bueno added.
