Braving "No Man's Land" in Drone Applications

During this year's National Day holiday, on the command screen of the city brain in Lingang New area, the staff carried out information analysis by relying on the real-time pictures and data returned by uav, and made direct decisions and commands on the management of large passenger flow in holiday tourist attractions. In the new office of Lingang Rubik's Cube not far away, Xiao Suzhi, founder of Xingluo ARTIFICIAL Intelligence, is leading the team to speed up the building of a smart city grid management system based on uav new infrastructure.

Automatic charging automatic cruise automatic hangar for manual control of the UAV configuration, star luo artificial intelligence of the UAV can be equipped with all aspects of urban governance, the city and the highway on both sides of garbage and illegal monitoring, river blue green algae identification, large passenger flow early warning, power line inspection...... During the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, xiao suzhi's team's fully automatic enabling system went to the UK to carry out uav inspection missions.

"We firmly believe that innovative technologies will lead to significant productivity gains." In the eyes of this female engineer who has won many awards in the field of artificial intelligence, "an engineer is one who dares to take the road that others have never taken, and only then can he reap different scenery".
From blowing up a plane to being number one in the country

Xingluo ARTIFICIAL Intelligence was established in July 2017 and settled in Lingang New area at the beginning of 2018. Xiao Suzhi is not only one of the founders, but also the leader of engineering technology. She led the formation of the team that explored the automatic enabling system of UAV earlier in China.

The first problem xiao Suzhi's team encountered was the research and development of the drone hangar. Originally, drones are used in a wide range of applications, but generally require manual take-off. Autonomous flight over long distances and self-charging could lead to cross-regional, all-weather industrial operations. once a drone has a hangar, it has a warm and comfortable "home" from which it can take off when it needs to carry out a mission. At the end of the mission or when the power is almost out, it can automatically find the "home" and land safely, which provides the possibility of first-time patrol in emergency or bad environment.

It's not easy for a drone to operate smoothly under extreme conditions, and Xiao remembers the night of Oct 19, 2018, when her team couldn't sleep at night because of an "explosion" incident during the development and testing of an industrial drone.

One failure did not crush the young team. When the team was most depressed, Xiao Suzhi told the story of "two bombs and one star" of the older generation of scientific researchers to encourage everyone: ensuring the flight safety of the UAV is the most important responsibility, and not a bit careless.

Analyzing data during the day and testing and recording at night, Xiao suzhi and her engineers went to several hangar sites in Lingang and stayed up all night for several days until the algorithm was optimized to be extremely reliable, enabling the UAV library to be adaptable to various environments.

Xingluo AI also got a good opportunity in the early stage of entrepreneurship. The research results gave the team the opportunity to deeply participate in the Lingang Smart City Brain project, completed the seamless coverage of DRonES in the core area of Lingang New area, and built the first uav cluster operation network in China.

After years of research and development, the world's first universal hangar for unmanned aerial vehicles has finally been born in Lingang, where the aircraft can automatically take off, cruise, detect, return to the nest and charge. This is like a "five-star" hangar, can provide more uav automatic recharge, automatic scheduling, autonomous flight, automatic data collection and automatic analysis of closed loop operation of the cloud system kei "cloud" is responsible for the on-line path planning unmanned aerial vehicle (uav) tasks, real-time monitoring system status, coordination of uav in wisdom hangar shuttle between the network, Realize "remote central control - hangar - UAV" long chain closed loop.

Such autonomous drones can be used in a variety of scenarios. Xiao Suzhi introduced that traffic accidents occur in congested sections, the uav of Star Luo intelligence can arrive at the scene within 5 minutes, take photos and obtain evidence, and guide the accident vehicle to the designated place to accept traffic police processing. It took only 8.6 minutes on average to deal with a traffic accident using the automated uav patrol system, compared with manual police response.

Another example is to provide daily inspection service for the river. The uav patrols tens of kilometers of river several times a day, and checks obstacles, leakage and leakage, blue algae, garbage, illegal fishing and other situations or faults through visible and infrared cameras. The same route, manual inspection may take a few days to complete a time, accuracy is not as good as uav. Xiao suzhi's system has withstood the test of inclement weather in Lingang for more than three years, including spring, summer, autumn and winter, as well as strong winds. The technology has been applied in more than 10 regions in Shanghai, Beijing and Suzhou, covering an area of thousands of square kilometers.

At the beginning of last year, the Administrative Committee of Lingang New Area asked Xingluo ARTIFICIAL Intelligence, "Can we add some new functions for UAV patrol under the epidemic situation? Such as reminding passers-by who are not wearing masks to put them on, or guiding those who gather in the street to disperse." After receiving the proposal, Xingluo AI immediately put into the research and development of the new system.
